For instance, just as you will soon make purchases from Web-enabled vending machines, your refrigerator will automatically add a litre of milk to your weekly grocery delivery if it senses that you are running low on milk. And those big metal shipping containers—thousands of which are lost every year—will have a wireless connection to the Internet with a global positioning system device, so each container can be tracked at all times.
Air Canada announced that they will be charging $15 for every paper airplane ticket purchased (at travel agencies). They prefer if the travelers buy their (e-)tickets on the Internet.
These are just a few of the many ways in which we can use the Internet to provide services to consumers or businesses in the future, says Cerf.
