The difference between shared and dedicated hosting:

If you don't know whether you need shared or dedicated hosting, then you will be amply satisfied with shared hosting and it's significantly cheaper than dedicated hosting.

Shared Hosting allows you to host your website using your own domain name on a server you share with other users (other domain names i.e. web sites) who will also share the server's resources. Most of the world's web sites are hosted this way.
